Role Summary
About the Position
FiscalNote Europe is seeking an independent Policy Analyst to support its Brussels operations on a contract basis. You will be responsible for directing and quality-controlling AI-assisted monitoring and reporting on EU policy, ensuring that our clients are up to date with the latest developments and that everything reaching them has been verified for accuracy. As an Analyst, you will use FiscalNote 's own AI-powered platform reviewing, correcting and contextualising its output, and helping calibrate the tool itself as you go. You will also gain further experience in understanding EU issues more in depth, with continuous training and support to develop both your subject-matter expertise and your ability to work critically alongside AI tools.
About the FiscalNote EU Issue Tracker Team
Fundamentally aligned with FiscalNote 's core mission of connecting the world to its governments, the EU Issue Tracker team helps its clients identify policy opportunities and threats in the EU. Combining FiscalNote 's own AI-powered legislative and regulatory tracking with the judgement of our analyst team, we deliver objective, structured and accurate near real-time EU horizon-scanning that gives our clients a systematic edge in regulatory monitoring. Our dedicated analysts work with Product and Business Development teams to make sure AI-generated intelligence is verified, contextualised and translated into the right insight for our client base at the right time. Insightful and diligent, the EU Issue Tracker team works in a fast-paced, continuous-learning environment where teamwork, subject-matter expertise and a critical eye on our own technology are vital for producing the reliable, high-quality analysis we are known for.
About You
You are passionate about EU affairs and eager to learn more. You are detail-oriented and able to pick up the main points quickly even in the most complex texts, including spotting where an AI-generated summary has missed or misread something important. Time management and structuring yourself to manage several tasks simultaneously is something you take pride in. You are a team player who can step in and help others while not being afraid to ask for assistance yourself, and you are comfortable working in a technology-augmented workflow without losing your own critical judgement. Being part of a dynamic and international team is an environment that you enjoy working in.
This is an initial 2-to-3-month independent contractor engagement (with potential for extension), offering a monthly fee of €3,250.
What To Expect In This Position
Direct and quality-control AI-assisted regulatory monitoring in the area of EU policy, verifying accuracy and flagging what the platform misses or gets wrong before it reaches a client
Collect, structure and analyse data to help calibrate and improve FiscalNote 's own digital tools and public affairs platform, contributing directly to product accuracy and development in an iterative process
Translate AI-generated monitoring and analysis into client-relevant insight, including flash reports and briefings, and support issues-management work
Gain in-depth knowledge about EU legislation and specific EU procedures
Manage multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail and tight deadlines, including quality-assurance checkpoints on AI-generated deliverables before client delivery
- Provide input to the Business Development Team and participate in internal projects
- Work both independently and as part of a small team
- What Sets You Apart
- Master's in EU Law or EU Affairs/Politics
- Good understanding of EU legislative procedures and regulatory processes
- Knowledge of EU politics and policymaking
Comfort using and critically evaluating AI-assisted research and monitoring tools curious about how technology can improve intelligence gathering, without taking its output at face value
- Ability to write policy briefings, flash reports, and long-form analysis to a consistently high standard
- Experience working in EU public or regulatory affairs is an advantage
- Native or equivalent written and spoken English, plus other EU languages
- Enjoy being part of a fast-paced, and dynamic team
About the Company
The Business Intelligence team sits at the intersection of data, technology, and strategy at FiscalNote . We build and maintain the systems, models, and reporting infrastructure that enable the entire business to operate with clarity and confidence. Our work connects every function — from sales to finance to customer success — ensuring that the right data reaches the right people at the right time to drive informed decisions. Our core mission is to understand the business and impact decision-making across all departments through the use of data.
About You
You are a builder first. You don't need a requirements doc to know what the business needs — you've already spotted the gap, formed a hypothesis, and started sketching the model. You're equally comfortable writing complex SQL in Snowflake, building a dbt model from scratch, and presenting a board-level dashboard to the CFO. You've spent years working with Salesforce data and know its quirks, relationships, and edge cases well enough to build reliable models without hand-holding. You lead with craft and credibility: your team trusts you because you can do the work yourself, and your stakeholders trust you because you consistently deliver insights that actually change decisions. You're energized by ambiguity, allergic to stale data, and relentless about getting things right.
