Role Summary

Implement agronomic research projects in the field, laboratory or greenhouse, within the quality precepts and established deadlines. Be responsible for the planning and direct execution of field tests according to protocols pre-defined by customers. Support the planning, acquisition and organization of resources and materials necessary for the successful development of work.

Responsibilities

Verify the need for purchase, carry out quantity surveys, avoiding unnecessary purchases, make purchase requests (with the knowledge of the researcher and unit leader), provide administrative support with technical information (type and quality) of the item to be purchased, as well as indication of the supplier. Demonstrates skills in planning, organizing and acquiring materials necessary for carrying out research, avoiding urgent purchases as much as possible. Occasionally contributes to local commercial contact when requested;

  • Contribute to optimizing the company's resources, providing suggestions in the planning, organization, movement and acquisition of materials necessary for the development of research;
  • Use and ensure that the team also makes the best use of work tools (car, computer, sprayer, thermometer, datalogger, scales, freezer, etc.). Being meticulous, organized and careful with the company's equipment and assets, in order to always keep them in good condition and usable conditions.;
  • Check whether you have the necessary PPE to carry out the activities, collect missing PPE from the administration, use it correctly, and provide feedback on the quality of the PPE, whether it meets the demands of the operation;
  • Be up to date with training, check the need for specific training and request it, and ensure that assistants/interns/day laborers are trained before carrying out any activity;
  • Observe and suggest maintenance needs, contributes to the maintenance of the structure, cleaning and organization of the work area;
  • Frequently check and respond to email and message requests as quickly as possible. Ensuring awareness and participation in training scheduled via MS Teams or in person;

Follow Compliance rules, EAS procedures, strictly follow the company's safety rules, GLP and accreditation standards, Eurofins' code of ethics, appropriate use of PPE, disposal of packaging, identification of fields, cleaning and destruction of areas, and attends to occasional inspections when necessary;

  • Interprets waste, effectiveness, ECOTOX and GMO study plans, in order to allow the execution of work in the field, questions and resolves doubts, ensuring understanding, and ensuring understanding on the part of his assistants;
  • When requested, guides the commercial area in evaluating the technical feasibility of research and deadlines required by the client;
  • Know the rate request process, and when requested by the PP, carry out the request/dosage;
  • Before application, check whether the information on the aliquot label is in accordance with the information contained in the PE, as well as whether the dosage is in accordance with the quantity to be applied;

He is meticulous, organized and effective in carrying out activities and research data with immediate completion and reporting: eSM, LDC's, Biosafety Books, ARM, data spreadsheet, etc. It also supports the preparation of internal reports and data summarization on demand from customers (internal/external);

  • Contribute to the visual quality of the test area (preparation of plots, stakes, maintenance, cleaning, signs);
  • When applicable ensure isolation from other fields;
  • Contribute to the selection of areas and the application of best agronomic practices in cultivating crops, so that their development does not negatively interfere with the objectives of the studies.
  • Carry out the formalization and signature of the assignment term and/or lease agreement. Check that all necessary documentation is available before installing the tests;
  • Check the list of equipment necessary to carry out an activity and ensure that they are available;
  • Proactively immediately prove the technical quality of your work in the field, with concrete evidence (e.g. photos, data tables, etc.). As well as planning rehearsal activities, filling out management spreadsheets and weekly scheduling alignment with the team of assistants and assistants;
  • Sends test system samples to the laboratory;

Ensure that at the end of the last test activity, the materials are immediately removed from the field and stored in a suitable location for better conservation and organization (flags, stakes, signs, pipes, screens, irrigation, etc.). In cases of waste (pieces of stakes, broken plates, plastics, pieces of hose, etc.), never leave them in the field and ensure correct disposal in accordance with UT regulations;

  • Communicates directly and objectively with his peers in the company, his superiors and rural producers with whom he works;
  • Participate effectively in the unit’s operational meetings;
  • Demonstrates interest in delving technically into the topic related to each research, so that it can contribute to the technical quality of the study conducted. As well as eventually contributing with information on market trends and new demands;
  • Plan rehearsal activities, complete management spreadsheets and weekly schedule alignment with the team of assistants and assistants;
  • Before installing an assay, check that the area is free of any conflicting molecules;
  • Clean equipment before and after use, ensuring complete cleaning, especially for some specific molecules (Ex Herbicides). If cleaning the spray bars after use, ensure that this washing is carried out inside the UT boom washer and direct the residue to the chemical waste containment area;

Execute activities in accordance with Eurofins procedures and Study Plan and ensure the execution of field activities (Culture management, sampling, applications, evaluations, etc.). Reports with quality and on time, all research under its supervision, with partial ability to discuss and conclude its results within the relevant scientific precepts;

  • Identifies and communicates immediately when technical problems/deviations occur in research under their responsibilities; proposing solutions for mitigation (e.g. reinstallation);
  • Consult the PP before any decision that has a potential impact on the study;
  • Carry out activities outside the host city (availability to travel).
  • Perform other related activities, as necessary, or at the discretion of your superior.

Requirements

  • Good writing, planning, ability to adapt to environments and change, logical and analytical reasoning, orientation towards action and results, proactivity, organized, commitment, transparency, responsibility, communicative, teamwork.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Agribusiness, Forestry Engineering or Biology and/or Agricultural Technician or Research Assistant with more than 3 years' experience in the area.
  • Intermediate English.

Knowledge of your area of expertise and activities; Practice in agricultural experimentation; Phytosanitary management; Quality systems (GLP – good laboratory practices); Experimental statistics; Relevant legislation (pesticide research, biosafety, ANVISA, etc.); Management of machines and implements (tractor, planter, etc.); Basic knowledge of office suite (Excel; Power Point; Word and Outlook); ARM – desirable; Category B license.
