Role Summary

Senior role | Accounting & Professional Services | Melbourne CBD

Working closely with the Directors and senior accounting team, you will bring together practice operations, systems, workflow, WIP, billing, budgets, financial management and reporting, accounts payable and receivable, risk, compliance and leadership of administration team to ensure the firm operates efficiently with a clear focus on growth.

Requirements

Your responsibilities will include

  • Overseeing workflows, processes, systems and capacity across the accounting practice.
  • Monitor WIP, budgets, deadlines, recovery and job profitability.

Managing accounts receivable and payables for the firm

  • Financial reporting for the firm, oversee billing, WIP, write-offs, budgets, P&L, prepare & report monthly results
  • Overseeing debtors, collections, supplier payments and financial controls.
  • Leading and developing the administration team and ensuring the function operates efficiently and professionally.
  • Driving improvements across our practice management and business systems.
  • Identifying inefficiencies and implementing smarter, more effective ways of working.
  • Providing the Directors with meaningful financial and operational insights to support decision-making.
  • Operational projects that support the continued growth of the firm.
  • About you
  • You are confident and capable at operating at a senior level. You will also have:
  • Experience in a senior operations, finance, practice management or business management role
  • Strong understanding of the operations, workflow and systems of an accounting firm
  • Financial management experience, including budgets, reporting, cash flow and financial controls.
  • Experience managing WIP, billing, budgets and/or profitability in a professional services environment.
  • Previous experience in accounts receivable and accounts payable and producing management reports
  • Experience leading a team and holding people accountable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to move between strategic thinking and getting into the detail when required.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach — you see a problem and want to fix it.
