Mechanical Engineer, Factory Automation at CircuitHub in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, USA, United States.
Responsibilities
- Design gantries and end effectors in Fusion 360
- Analyze end effector behavior from video recordings and revise its geometry to improve reliability
- Conceive of novel mechanical systems to handle electronics parts
- Install, commission and debug robots
- Prototype and deploy a new test robot for in-line PCB validation
- Travel to UK to brief R&D teams and shape roadmap priorities
Requirements
- We’re hiring driven Mechanical Engineers to join our factory automation team. This role is focused on the design, development, and commissioning of automated robotic cells that support our advanced manufacturing process.
- Some software/scripting or PLC/controls capability is preferred but this is primarily a practical mechanical engineering role.
- This role is suitable for someone who has built full robotic systems, whether as a hobbyist, student, employee, or founder. You’ll be expected to integrate software, hardware, and process into functional systems and debug failures under real-world production pressure.
We don’t hire narrow specialists. We want engineers who can:
- Diagnose system-wide failures from first principles
- Prototype mechanical and software fixes on the fly
- Work autonomously and communicate clearly to a remote team
- Take full responsibility for uptime and performance in live production
KEY TOOLS & TECHNOLOGIES
- SolidWorks and/or Fusion 360 for mechanical design
- Beckhoff TwinCAT for industrial PLC integration
- Python for control and automation
In the first year of the role you must be available to work at least three days on-site at our South Deerfield, Western Massachusetts (90 mins from Boston) facility https://maps.app.goo.gl/Z28dMofnouPZ52Ad9. In early 2027 we will establish facilities in Boston, LA and the Bay Area. Early hires to the South Deerfield team will be in an ideal position to lead the new sites.
