Role Summary

As part of your internship, you will analyze our current purchasing portfolio with a focus on mechanical components and derive potential for a strategic expansion of the supplier network in China.

In supplier management, you identify potential suppliers in China, evaluate them based on technical capabilities, capacities, certifications and economic indicators and participate in their initiation and communication - if necessary in collaboration with local sourcing partners or service providers.

Together with our Europe-wide purchasing team, you will develop a cross-location purchasing strategy for the Chinese market and support its implementation.

You systematically compare the total cost of ownership (TCO) between Asian and European purchasing options, taking logistics, quality, delivery time, customs and risks into account.

With the help of well-founded market and competition analyses, including the use of digital tools or AI-supported research approaches, you gain insights into relevant developments.

In operational support, you will take on tasks relating to inquiries, offer comparisons and supplier evaluations and at the same time work on the further development of standardized purchasing processes to increase efficiency in an international context.

The creation of presentations and decision templates for management is also part of your area of responsibility, including close coordination with the team management.

In the area of digitalization and data analysis, if you are interested, you will get involved in data-driven topics, for example in building a supplier dashboard (e.g. in Power BI) and in automating analyzes and reports (e.g. with Python, Excel VBA or Power Automate).
