Life Sciences MES Engineer

Role Summary

As an expert in quality and compliance, you are responsible for ensuring that GxP systems and processes comply with applicable regulations throughout the entire system life cycle. That's why you stay abreast of evolving guidelines from agencies such as the EMA and FDA, as well as industry standards such as GAMP and ISO. Depending on your role and expertise, you may be asked to provide Quality & Compliance support during audits and inspections, or be part of a validation team within the Sopra Steria validation services.

We are looking for a motivated MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Engineer to join our team. As a MES Engineer you are responsible for implementing, maintaining and optimizing our MES system to guarantee efficient production processes. You will play a key role in configuring the system, supporting users and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. In addition, you actively contribute to process improvement and play an important role in the validation of the system.

Implementation and Configuration

Install, configure and customize MES software based on production needs.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate MES with other systems (ERP, PLC, SCADA, etc.).

Process optimization

Analyze production processes and workflows, identify and improve inefficiencies through MES automation.

Responsibilities

System Maintenance and Management

• Perform system maintenance, troubleshooting and updates for optimal performance.
• Manage user accounts, access rights and ensure data security and integrity within MES.

Validation and Compliance

• Establish and implement validation plans and protocols to comply with regulations and industry standards (e.g. GAMP, FDA).
• Maintain detailed validation documentation, test results and reports.

• Bachelor's or master's degree in a scientific field
• 2 to 5 years of experience working with MES systems in a production environment
• Strong technical skills in MES implementation, configuration and troubleshooting, or experience building recipes in MES systems
• Familiarity with integrating MES with ERP, PLC, SCADA or DeltaV systems is a plus
• Knowledge of validation processes and regulations (such as GAMP, FDA, etc.)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience with specific MES software (such as Siemens SIMATIC IT, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Werum PAS-X, etc.)
• Previous experience in the pharmaceutical, automotive or food and beverage industries
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is a plus
• Experience with project management or a certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus
