Lead Design Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading mechanical design and integration for complex hardware platforms from concept through production release. This role owns key mechanical deliverables, drives issue resolution, and ensures designs meet performance, quality, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities for enclosures, chassis, structural elements, cable routing, and related assemblies across development phases.
• Own critical mechanical deliverables including design proposals, tolerance analysis, structural studies, drawing completeness, and release readiness.
• Drive mechanical issue investigation and root cause analysis during prototype builds, validation, and manufacturing ramp.
• Provide technical leadership in design reviews and ensure alignment of mechanical solutions with system architecture, thermal needs, and customer requirements.
• Partner with suppliers, operations, and manufacturing teams to improve design for manufacturability, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
• Support packaging, reliability, and physical integration concerns and drive closure of cross-functional product risks.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to method development, reuse strategies, and engineering best practices within the mechanical function.
• Communicate technical decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and status clearly to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field; Master's degree preferred.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and development of electronics or complex hardware products.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong expertise in CAD, tolerance analysis, structural investigation, and release management for mechanical components and assemblies.
• Experience working with manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to deliver products into production.
• Familiarity with server, storage, networking, or rack-level hardware platforms is required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to lead technical execution in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence project direction through technical leadership.

About the Company

How will you make an impact?

The Quality Supervisor for DHR and Inspection is under the direction of the QA Manager. They will continue maintaining high quality standards of the product inspection and final release process and compliance with regulatory requirements, administer Quality Assurance support to Quality Operations of a complex site and/or demanding compliance profile, and directly supervise Quality inspectors, and Final Release (DHR) employees. Works with Quality Technicians and Quality Engineers for day to day activities supporting all Production Cells and Supplier quality (Operating Companies) at the site has adequate quality support, documentation review, and support projects, process and new product introductions or upgrading of existing processes and products and subsequent qualifications.
