Role Summary

Responsible for carrying out inspections and issuing inspection/issuing reports and release notes in the Metalworking Area and non-destructive testing.

This position is aimed at a Level II NDT Inspector – Ultrasound and PAUT Specialist, with solid experience in QA/QC, knowledge in ASME / API, and ability to support integrity, construction and manufacturing projects under the highest technical and ethical standards.

Responsible for the application of the Inspection Manual during the development of the different inspection and expedition activities.

Responsible for finished product inspection in the manufacturing of metal mechanical equipment, dimensional inspection, welding and painting application.

Know and Act in accordance with the company's code of ethics and quality systems

Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT / NDT) as a Level II Inspector, mainly using Conventional Ultrasound (UT) and Phased Array Ultrasound (PAUT), in accordance with approved procedures, codes, international standards and client requirements.

Configure, calibrate and operate UT and PAUT equipment, including selection of probes, wedges, phase arrays, inspection parameters and sensitivity adjustments, ensuring reliable and repeatable results.

Interpret and evaluate indications obtained during NDT, determining their acceptability in accordance with the criteria established in applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, ISO, among others).

Issue clear, complete and traceable NDT technical reports, ensuring correct documentation of results, calibration records, configurations used and technical conclusions.

Apply and comply with QA/QC procedures during the execution of inspections, ensuring that NDT activities contribute to the verification of the quality and integrity of equipment, welds and components.

Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental requirements, using the corresponding PPE and executing inspections in accordance with the company's and client's HSE policies.

Act as a technical authority in NDT Level II, stopping inspections, rejecting non-conforming results or requesting corrective actions when critical deviations are identified that compromise the integrity or safety of the asset.

Comply with and act in accordance with the SGS Code of Ethics, Impartiality and Quality Management System, maintaining technical independence, confidentiality and objectivity in all activities carried out.

Requirements

  • Mechanical, Metallurgical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering (Graduate), or related careers with technical orientation in manufacturing, inspection, asset integrity or industrial quality control.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the execution of NDT/NDT in industrial projects, including inspections in manufacturing, construction, assembly and/or maintenance.
  • Experience working under QA/QC schemes, complying with procedures, inspection plans (ITP) and contractual requirements.
  • Ultrasound and Phase Array
  • Verifiable experience as a Level II Inspector in Conventional Ultrasound and PAUT, including:
  • Calibration of UT and PAUT equipment
  • Configuration of phase arrays, probes and wedges
  • Interpretation of indications and evaluation according to acceptance criteria
  • Generation of clear and traceable technical reports
  • It is essential to have a current Level II certification in accordance with ISO 9712 or SNT-TC-1A in:
  • Conventional Ultrasound (UT Level II)
  • Phased Array Ultrasound – PAUT (Level II)
  • It is also desirable to have one or more of the following certifications or courses:
  • VT/PT/MT Level II
  • Training and practical experience in PAUT applied to welding, piping and equipment
  • Training in ASME Section V (END)
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.X, ASME VIII, API 1104 codes
  • Training or experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)
