Role Summary
Carry out tests on soils and rocks according to standards (ASTM, AASHTO, ISRM).
Sample preparation (drying, quartering, crushing, sieving).
Perform tests such as: Granulometry, Atterberg limits, Proctor (normal/modified), CBR, Direct shear, Simple compression (UCS), Triaxial tests (depending on level).
Verify calibration and status of equipment.
Comply with quality procedures (ISO 17025).
Record results in physical and digital formats.
Ensure traceability of samples.
Maintain order, cleanliness and safety of the laboratory.
Inventory control of materials and consumables.
Report deviations or non-conformities.
Requirements
Technician graduated or qualified in: Geology, Civil Engineering (technician), Soils and Pavements, Materials Laboratory. Desirable: courses in geotechnics or soil mechanics.
Have a drone driving license (Essential)
- Diploma or Master's Degree in Geotechnics/Rock Mechanics (Desirable)
- Experience of no less than 2 years in a geotechnical or materials laboratory.
- Experience in projects of: Mining, Construction, Oil & Gas (desirable)
- A1 Driver's License (desirable)
