Role Summary
About Epirus
Epirus is a high-growth technology company developing software-defined high-power microwave (HPM) systems with devastating counter-electronics effects on modern drone threats. The Epirus Leonidas HPM family of products, empowered by innovations in AI and microelectronics, is human safe and cost-effective. Distinguishing itself from lasers, Leonidas excels against drone swarms while also bending the cost curve back in DoD's favor - taking drone defeat costs from millions of dollars per drone to pennies on the dollar.
This is an exciting role in a growing company. The ideal candidate for the position is someone who has experience designing, verifying, and integrating state-of-the-art FPGA systems and embedded processing solutions for RF applications. In this role, you will work closely with a talented, multi-disciplinary engineering team to design and manufacture novel RF systems for a variety of platforms in a rapid development environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and verification of RTL modules for FPGA applications
- Initial test and bring-up of custom FPGA circuit cards, including on-board peripherals such as memory, Ethernet, and sensors
- Automation of test environment (up to and including hardware-in-the-loop testing), lab equipment, and measurement devices
- Capturing design tradeoffs, state machine flow, system address maps, and block diagrams
Requirements
- BS degree in Computer or Electrical engineering
- 2+ years of technical experience
- Familiarity implementing FPGA and microprocessor designs on embedded hardware
- Experience working with latest generation state of the art Xilinx/Intel Parts and associated tool sets (Vivado, Quartus)
- Understanding of common digital communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART)

- Knowledge of advanced firmware verification testbench development (UVM, System Verilog)
- Skilled with advanced high-speed Verilog/VHDL designs including high-speed memory interfaces (DDR4, HBM) and high-speed SerDes IO and protocols (100GE, JESD, Interlaken)
- Understanding of digital and mixed signal PCB design including signal integrity analysis, FPGA sizing estimation, and IO selection
- Aerospace/Defense experience and/or military experience
- Current/Active Secret Security Clearance
