Role Summary
The Facility Engineer is responsible for the technical management, optimization and continuity of all building-related installations and facility systems within the new construction location of Eurofins Leiden. The role focuses on ensuring a safe, efficient and reliable environment that complies with all relevant legislation, regulations, quality standards (including GMP/GLP) and business requirements.

Responsibilities
- Technical management & maintenance
- Managing, monitoring and optimizing building installations such as HVAC, electrical engineering, building management systems (BMS), water supply systems, compressed air, emergency power and laboratory-specific utilities.
- Coordinate and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance within established KPIs.
- Diagnosing technical faults and providing quick and safe solutions.
- Support for new construction & commissioning
- Actively contribute to the technical completion of the new construction phase, including commissioning, qualification and validation of installations.
- Reviewing technical documentation, design drawings, as-built files and O&M manuals.
- Thinking along and advising on technical improvements during and after delivery.
- Compliance, quality & safety
- Ensure that all facility systems comply with Eurofins guidelines, quality standards (GMP/GLP), legislation and regulations and safety standards.
- Support with audits, inspections and quality reviews.
- Initiating risk assessments (e.g. FMEA) and co-drafting SOPs for facility processes.
- Contract & supplier management
- Managing, evaluating and coordinating external suppliers and maintenance parties.
- Monitoring contractual agreements, SLAs and performance of technical service providers.
- Preparing and assessing quotations and technical specifications.
- Project management & optimization
- Initiating and supervising technical improvement projects aimed at efficiency, sustainability and reliability.
- Contributing to installation expansion and scalability issues for future growth.
- Perform data analysis to prevent failures and optimize assets.
- Operational support
- First point of contact for technical questions from laboratories and other departments.
- Participate in picket/breakdown services if applicable.
- Manage technical documentation and asset registrations.
Requirements
- Bachelor or MBO+ in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, technical management, installation technology or similar.
- Experience within laboratory environments, pharmaceutical production, biotechnology or high-quality facility environments is a strong advantage.
- Experience with new construction projects, commissioning or technical delivery is desirable.
- Knowledge of GMP/GLP, ISO standards and relevant legislation and regulations.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both towards internal stakeholders and external parties.
- Proactive attitude, quality conscious and accurate.
- Can work independently, but also functions well in multidisciplinary teams.
