Role Summary
FUNCTION SUMMARY
Within a dynamic R&D with a flattened structure, the position holder participates in the deployment of robotics within the integrated systems development team. He contributes to accelerating the prototyping of new applications in non-destructive testing and advises the team on the use of robotics to solve problems raised by our clients. The incumbent works in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a state-of-the-art environment.
Architecture
- Contribute to the definition of the optimal architecture of robotic solutions in collaboration with the system architect and other disciplines;
- Make robotic architecture choices based on available and mastered technologies (UR, Kuka, Fanuc);
Verification and validation of products
- Define the validation protocol for each of the components and robotic systems;
- Check the proper functioning of the program and ensure its synergy with the other components of the system;
- Manage the technical risks of development under his responsibility;
- Supervise robotic design reviews;
Responsibilities
System requirements and features
- Contribute to the analysis, understanding and documentation of the requirements and functionalities of robotic systems in collaboration with the system architect and other disciplines;
- Develop and propose robotic concepts;
- Characterize the robotic performance requirements of the system
- Characterize integration, assembly and after-sales service requirements, in collaboration with operations;
Design
- Define and carry out the robotic design of NDT inspection solutions comprising several technologies (mechanical, electronic, software, acoustic);
- Ensure optimal integration of the robotic solution into the system;
- Take charge of prototyping new NDT applications before they enter the development phase;
- Responsible for programming the robots and implementing the programs in the final solutions;
- Manage the technical risks of development under his responsibility.
Transfer to production
- Contribute with the project manager and the DevOps team to planning the work necessary for the transfer to production;
- Responsible for transfer to production
- Provide robotic specifications necessary for operations and technical writing;
- Support less experienced robotics integration specialists working on the same project;
- Support teams to maximize the impact of robotic applications on Evident solutions;
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to resolve inter-departmental technical problems;
- Support the introduction and optimize the use of new methods and tools according to the technological direction of the company;
- Promote inter-site work and ensure an effective and open link with counterparts on other sites;
- Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of equipment in our Research and Development laboratory in industrial non-destructive testing systems;
- Apply the various health and safety standards relating to the use of industrial robotics.
- Maintain a good relationship with robotic equipment suppliers (Ex: Kuka, Fanuc)
- Ensure that an engineer member of the OIQ provides Immediate Management and Supervision (DSI) of work on the project in accordance with the Engineers Act. If the designer is a member of the OIQ, he can himself provide IT management on the project.
Requirements
Technical skills
- Bachelor's degree in robotics engineering, automated production, electrical, mechanical, with 5 years of experience in design or equivalent experience or;
- DEC or AEC in robotics, or industrial electronics with a minimum of 10 years of significant experience;
- Member of the Order of Engineers, highly desired;
- Mastery of Fanuc and/or Kuka and/or UR robotics programming;
- Mastery of relevant software tools (Robot DK, Roboguide, RobotMaster, Karel, Krl, Robot Middleware Interface (Ex: ROS), etc.) an asset;
- Mastery of tools related to robotics (Force Torque Control, Force Torque Sensor Vision, security, etc.) an asset;
- Experience in PLC programming and electrical design, an asset;
- Experience in mechanical design, an asset;
- Experience in configuring, programming, installing and commissioning robotic solutions
- Have contributed very significantly to the deployment of robotic solutions that have achieved commercial success;
- Ability to quickly learn, adapt and deploy new technologies;
- Knowledge of aspects relating to robotics in non-destructive testing applications;
- Intermediate English.
