Role Summary
Under the supervision of the Technical Manager of Mechanical Production Engineering, the position holder acts as a technical manufacturing reference for mechanical products. It supports development, industrialization, production transfer and continuous improvement activities in order to ensure the efficiency, quality, performance and robustness of manufacturing processes.
The incumbent actively participates in NPI (New Product Introduction) activities, the optimization of manufacturing and assembly methods, the resolution of complex manufacturing problems as well as the continuous improvement of products and processes.
He also acts as a technical mentor to team members and contributes to the development of best manufacturing practices.
Training
DEC in mechanical engineering or related field.
Responsibilities
Manufacturing development and production launch
- Create and maintain manufacturing routes for complex mechanical parts and assemblies in ERP systems.
- Develop, optimize and document manufacturing and assembly methods.
- Actively participate in transfer activities of new products to production.
- Support the production of parts, sub-assemblies and complex products.
- Perform manufacturability and assembly analyzes (DFM/A).
- Participate in design reviews to ensure product manufacturability.
- Contribute to the identification and reduction of manufacturing risks from the development phases.
Design and technical documentation
- Design templates, production tools and manufacturing support equipment.
- Produce and maintain the required 3D models and technical drawings.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation using CAD, PDM, PLM and ERP systems.
- Carry out dimension chain calculations and define the appropriate geometric tolerances.
- Ensure the integrity and conformity of technical manufacturing data.
Operations support
- Act as a technical resource during complex manufacturing issues.
- Participate in the analysis of root causes and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Support production, quality, methods and CNC programming teams in problem solving.
- Participate in quality improvement and non-quality cost reduction activities.
Continuous improvement
- Identify, propose and implement improvements to products, processes and working methods.
- Participate in improvement projects aimed at increasing productivity, quality and safety.
- Contribute to the standardization of working methods.
- Participate in the optimization of manufacturing flows and production activities.
- Be actively involved in the organization's culture of continuous improvement.
Technical project management
- Plan, coordinate and execute the technical activities entrusted to him.
- Ensure monitoring of timelines, risks and deliverables of projects under your responsibility.
- Collaborate with the different multidisciplinary teams involved in the projects.
- Effectively communicate work progress and technical issues.
Technical leadership
- Act as a technical mentor to less experienced team members.
- Participate in the development of best manufacturing practices.
- Promote the sharing of knowledge and the development of technical skills.
- Contribute to the improvement of production engineering processes.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in production engineering, product development or manufacturing support.
- Significant experience in production and industrialization of mechanical products.
- Experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
Technical skills
- Solid understanding of manufacturing and mechanical assembly processes.
- Excellent command of CAD software (SolidWorks or Solid Edge).
- Good knowledge of ERP, PDM and PLM systems.
- Knowledge of DFM/A principles.
- Good command of Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience in technical project management.
- Knowledge of CNC machining processes (asset).
