Role Summary

At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture, delivering premium seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmer success. To support this mission, the Syngenta recruitment team is looking for a Corn Research Assistant in Saint-Barthélémy d'Anjou. This role will support the execution of early grain corn breeding programs through:

Responsibilities

  • Planning and designing nursery and production trials, as well as interpreting technical results for breeders.
  • The role of scientific and technical referent to local operational teams, ensuring the interface between selection and operations.
  • Management and security of data collection (phenotyping, complex notations) and monitoring of performance indicators (KPI).
  • The implementation of modern breeding technologies (MAB, predictive selection, DH) and the management of genetic material according to retention policies.
  • Support for data quality and material traceability through the expert use of internal tools (MINT, SPIRIT, TOPS, STARLIMS).

Requirements

Qualifications required

  • Engineering degree in Agriculture or Agronomy / Bac +3 if experience in a similar position
  • Strong basic knowledge of genetics and plant breeding.
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience in agricultural field work.
  • Fluent command of English (European context).
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of statistics.
  • Ability to work in a transversal and multicultural environment.
  • Spirit of initiative, sense of observation and rigor in execution.

Desired qualifications

  • Mastery of data management systems (Spirit, MINT, TOPS, GARF, Starlims).
  • Ability to manage unforeseen situations and propose corrective actions.
