Role Summary

As a Junior Microbiology Analyst, you perform microbiological analyzes on food and water samples under supervision. The majority of the analyzes relate to food safety, including examining water samples for the presence of Legionella.

You work according to established procedures, quality and safety regulations and learn to independently assess and report analyzes step by step. Routine work that never becomes boring due to the variation and specialization.

Responsibilities

Your duties include

  • Preparing and deploying samples
  • Carrying out microbiological analyzes according to classical methods
  • Evaluating plates and learning to identify micro-organisms
  • Processing regular and emergency analyzes according to planning

You will join a team of approximately 50 colleagues led by Section Leaders Anouk and Dorota. Together you are responsible for the correct use of equipment, methods and facilities within the laboratory.

  • We work in shifts. In a period of four weeks you will:
  • 1 Saturday
  • 5 evening shifts (3:30 PM – 11:00 PM)
  • 3 night shifts (11 p.m. – 7 a.m.)

The other services are day shifts (7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.).

Requirements

You are at the start of your career and want to develop further within microbiology.

What we would like to see

  • A completed MLO training in microbiology
  • Internship experience or (first) work experience in a laboratory is an advantage
  • Interest in microbiological analyzes and quality-oriented work
  • You work accurately, are eager to learn and function well in a team
  • Do you have no work experience yet, but do you have your MLO diploma? No problem — we are happy to guide you and teach you all the tricks of the trade.
  • Are you currently following an MLO microbiology course? You are also very welcome to work with us and gain practical experience in addition to your studies.
