Role Summary
We are looking for a professional and detail-oriented Occupational Safety Technician to join our team in Barcarena, Brazil. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe work environment, monitoring compliance with safety standards, and promoting a culture of safety throughout our organization.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of work areas to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Monitor proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment by all employees
- Perform risk assessments and develop preliminary risk analysis reports for various work activities
- Investigate and report accidents, incidents and near misses, providing detailed analysis and recommendations for prevention
- Develop and maintain security documentation, including lockout procedures and special activity authorization credentials
- Conduct security training sessions and participate in Daily Security Dialogues (DSD) to increase security awareness among employees
- Collaborate with management and safety committees to implement and improve safety policies and procedures
- Stay up to date with local and international safety standards, ensuring our practices meet or exceed required standards
- Manage the inventory and procurement of safety equipment and PPE, working closely with the Purchasing Department
- Participate in security meetings and committees, contributing to the continuous improvement of our security programs
Requirements
- Technical training in Occupational Safety or a related field
- Professional registration or certification in occupational safety
- Proven experience in a similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including local safety laws in Brazil
- Proficiency in performing safety audits, risk assessments and accident investigations
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights
- Excellent communication skills in Portuguese and English, with the ability to effectively conduct training sessions
- Proficiency in using security management software and the Microsoft Office suite
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to maintaining accurate records and reports
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
- Willingness to work in multiple environments and adapt to changing security requirements
