Role Summary

AFRY has ambitious growth plans in the Greenland region, and we are now looking for an experienced Senior Automation Engineer for our office at Herøya in Porsgrunn.

As a senior automation engineer, you will have a key role in the implementation of both small and large industrial projects. You will be responsible for automation and control system deliveries throughout the project's life cycle - from studies and concept development to detailed design, testing, commissioning and optimization.

The role entails significant technical responsibility in projects, with close dialogue with both customers, suppliers and internal professional environments. Here you get the opportunity to help shape how we work locally in Porsgrunn - both professionally and socially.

We deliver services as EPC partner, system integrator, consultant and owner's engineer - and offer our customers a holistic approach to industrial automation. The role combines planning and work at the customer's site.

Some travel must be expected, but the main part of the work is carried out locally in the Greenland region. This is an exciting opportunity for you who want to take a central role in the development of our professional environment in Porsgrunn, while at the same time contributing to some of Norway's most exciting industrial projects.

Your closest colleagues consist of 70 engineers within Automation & Electro and Industrial Digitalization, spread over Porsgrunn, Kristiansand, Sandefjord, Oslo and Sarpsborg. Together, we form a strong professional environment within automation, digitization and electronics, where you work closely with experienced professional resources across locations.

Technologies and systems we use

• Siemens (TIA Portal, Step 7)
• Schneider Electric EcoStruxure
• SCADA solutions such as WinCC and AVEVA
• Safety systems (SIS/SIL)
• OT/IT integration and industrial networks
• Beckhoff, Omron and other automation platforms
• We think you have the following background and experience:
• Higher technical education in automation, electricity, cybernetics or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years as an automation engineer / PLC engineer, with experience in programming, system design and commissioning of control systems
• Experience from industry, for example process industry, energy or manufacturing operations
• Experience with project work and interdisciplinary collaboration

Responsibilities

Here you will work to

• Develop and program PLC and control systems
• Design and configure SCADA and overall control systems
• Contribute in OT/IT integration and industrial communication networks
• Prepare system architecture, technical specifications and solution descriptions
• Carry out testing, FAT/SAT and commissioning at the customer
• Participate in studies, preliminary projects and detailed design
• Follow up on customers and projects throughout the entire project cycle
• Actively participate in interdisciplinary project teams across disciplines and locations
