Role and Reporting Structure
Build and continuously improve Berry Law 's legal quality management system to ensure appeals submitted to the VA are legally accurate, factually supported, professionally written, strategically persuasive, and consistently reflect the firm's standards of excellence. The Director of Legal Quality is responsible for reporting defects, identifying systemic quality issues, improving attorney performance through writing skills training, and ensuring Berry Law produces the highest-quality veterans disability advocacy in the country. The Director of Legal Quality reports to the VA Commander and does not have any direct reports.

Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
Conduct independent quality reviews of randomly selected appeals
- Review all appeals from new attorneys for the first 15 days after they graduate from the training platoon.
- Ensure compliance with Berry Law 's Quality Standards.
- Prevent critical defects before filing.
- Quality Improvement
- Analyze every defect found during audits. Determine whether the root cause is:

- Report defect to the VA commander for corrective actions.
- Attorney Development
Requirements
- Licensed attorney
- 5+ years appellate or litigation experience
- Exceptional legal writing ability
- Extensive VA appellate experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent judgment
Preferred
- Former appellate clerk
- Former law review editor
- Former legal writing professor
- Experience implementing quality management systems
