DATA MDM consultant – Semarchy Data Platform and “xDM” – DATA specialty consultancy – Lyon at Sopra Steria in Limonest, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France.

Role Summary

The DATA specialty consultancy, a transversal entity of the France division, is at the heart of the support and Data / AI transformation of our clients.

Convinced that Data is the driving force behind a scalable, reliable and sustainable industrial base, built to meet business challenges, we operate across the entire value chain in order to bring value to our clients at all levels: business, IT, Data Office, DSI, program management and CxO.

This center brings together technological and methodological expertise around Data strategy, governance, data quality, repositories, Master Data Management, Data Cloud and on-premise architectures, as well as the implementation of Data / AI use cases.

Responsibilities

You will work on consulting, framing and implementation missions around the Semarchy Data Platform (SDP) and xDM, with a posture that is both functional, data and technical-functional.

As such, your main missions will be as follows:

Framing and understanding of the business need

• Lead workshops with business lines, Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Office, CIO and IT teams.
• Collect, analyze and formalize needs around repositories, master data and management rules.
• Identify the data domains concerned: customer, product, supplier, third party, organization, asset, cross-functional repository, regulatory data.
• Understand the associated business processes: creation, modification, validation, publication, historicization, enrichment and consumption of data.
• Map data sources, consuming systems, inbound/outbound flows, and governance responsibilities.
• Translate business needs into functional and technical-functional requirements that can be used by the production teams.
• Functional and technical-functional design SDP and xDM
• Participate in the definition of the Semarchy data model: entities, attributes, relationships, hierarchies, value domains, reference data. Whether through

• Contribute to the design of business processes, data authoring and user journeys
• Define management rules, validation rules, quality rules, enrichment rules and consistency checks.
• Participate in the design of standardization, normalization, duplicate detection, matching, merge and consolidation mechanisms.
• Define survivorship rules to identify the best value to retain in the golden record based on data sources.
• Contribute to the definition of the data life cycle (golden records, master records, source records).
• Participate in the design of validation, correction, approval and data stewardship workflows.
• Write detailed functional specifications, user stories, management rules, mapping matrices, quality rules and recipe scenarios.

Implementation and functional configuration

• Contribute to the configuration of Semarchy xDM & Semarchy Data Platform in conjunction with the technical teams.
• Configure or challenge input screens, forms, user views, steppers, actions, filters, controls and workflows.
• Participate in the definition of user roles, profiles, access rights and stewardship responsibilities.
• Contribute to the implementation of SemQL rules, enrichers, validations, match rules and survivorship rules.
• Support teams on data exposure and consumption mechanisms via REST API, SQL or integration flows via Semarchy data notifications.
• Participate in discussions with integration teams around SDP Data Integration / Semarchy xDI, ETL/ELT, API, Datalake, Data Warehouse, consuming applications or source systems.
• Development of interface contracts to define the pivotal formats for inter-application exchanges

Recipe, quality and user support

• Build the functional and technical-functional recipe strategy.
• Write test books, acceptance cases, data sets and end-to-end scenarios.
• Test quality, matching, deduplication, consolidation, publication and workflow rules.
• Analyze discrepancies, anomalies, rejections, duplicates, survivorship conflicts or data inconsistencies.
• Support businesses in data qualification, cleaning campaigns and rule arbitrations.
• Contribute to change management: user support, getting started guides, training, demonstrations and animation of Data Stewards communities.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of the solution and the increase in Data Management maturity of clients.

Framing / pre-sales

You will also be able to intervene in framing or pre-sales phases in order to:

• Understand an RFP or customer need expression.
• Identify issues around MDM, data quality, repositories and governance.
• Propose a Semarchy implementation trajectory adapted to the client context.
• Contribute to the drafting of a functional and technical-functional response.
• Participate in the preparation of demonstrators, use cases or support materials.
• Support a proposal in front of a business, Data, IT or technical-functional audience.
• Challenge customer needs in order to guide them towards good Data Management practices.

Requirements

• With a Bac+5 education, engineering school, business school, university or equivalent, you have at least 5 years of experience on Data Management, MDM, repositories, data quality or data governance projects, ideally in a Semarchy environment.
• You have a solid technical-functional culture and are able to make the link between business issues, processes, data, management rules and technical constraints.
• Experience on Semarchy xDM is strongly desired, training/experience on the Semarchy Data Platform is a plus. Experience with another MDM or Data Management tool may also be valued: Informatica MDM / IDMC, Tibco EBX, Stibo STEP, Talend MDM, Orchestra Networks, Reltio, SAP MDG or equivalent.

• Knowledge of all or part of the Semarchy ecosystem will be a real asset (Semarchy xDM, Semarchy Data Platform, Semarchy xDI, Data locations, etc.)
• You are recognized for your ability to structure a need, popularize complex Data subjects, interact with business and technical contacts, and secure the correct translation of the need into the solution.
• You appreciate project environments, teamwork, transformation contexts and customer proximity.
• Comfortable speaking, you know how to lead workshops, present design choices, defend a recommendation and support users in adopting a solution.
• Professional English at level B2 is desired in order to operate in international contexts.

• As a Technical-Functional DATA Semarchy Consultant, you will join our Data tribe in order to work with key account clients in various sectors: Banking, Insurance, Public Sector, Telecom, Media, Games, Industry, Retail and Services.

You will mainly work on Master Data Management / Data Management projects around the Semarchy Data Platform (SDP) and xDM, at the crossroads of business, functional and technical issues: customer repositories, products, suppliers, third parties, organizations, assets, nomenclatures, HR data, regulatory repositories or management data.

• You will be required to work closely with business teams, Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Managers, architects, IT teams, integration teams and delivery teams.
• We support the consulting and delivery teams during the framing, pre-sales, design, implementation and industrialization phases of Data Management solutions.
