Chief Data Scientist, Growth

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join one of our cross-functional teams at Shakepay. You will work closely with Engineering and Design, while partnering with Marketing, Finance and Operations teams to help us identify growth opportunities and make more informed decisions across the company.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, who enjoys operating with a high level of autonomy, and who can transform ambiguous problems into measurable impacts. You will combine experimentation, statistical rigor, business intuition and product thinking to influence how we grow, retain and better serve millions of Canadians.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with engineers and designers on our product teams to improve acquisition, activation, retention, monetization and customer experience
• Collaborate with marketing, finance and operations teams to uncover growth opportunities and make better business decisions
• Support and promote experimentation and decision frameworks that help us launch products and iterate quickly with confidence
• Define KPIs (key performance indicators) and success metrics that help teams stay aligned on measurable results
• Use statistical analysis, forecasting, causal inference and machine learning techniques to better understand user behavior and business performance
• Proactively identify high-impact opportunities through in-depth analysis of user journeys, lifecycle behavior, funnels and financial performance
• Help shape team and business priorities by providing data-driven perspectives on impact, trade-offs and ROI
• Create dashboards, templates and self-service tools that improve visibility of growth and business performance across the organization
• Collaborate with the broader data team to maintain a shared and consistent data layer that serves our internal stakeholders and agents
• Fostering a culture of experimentation, curiosity and evidence-based decision-making across Shakepay

• 8+ years of experience in data science, growth analysis, experimentation, or related roles in high-growth environments
• Strong command of SQL and Python
• In-depth understanding of experimentation, causal inference, statistical analysis, forecasting and KPI design
• Strong product and business intuition, with the ability to connect user behavior to business results
• Experience working cross-functionally with teams such as marketing, finance, operations or product
• Comfortable operating independently and leading ambiguous projects from idea to execution
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence decisions through data and clear reasoning
• Demonstrated ability to manage and complete multiple projects with great attention to detail
• Curiosity, speed and propensity for action in rapidly changing environments
• Strong understanding of dashboarding and data visualization tools
• Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
• Additional Points
• Experience in early-stage or high-growth consumer environments
• Experience with product experimentation and analytics platforms such as Posthog, Statsig, Amplitude
• Experience working with dbt, Snowflake and modern data stacks
• Experience with lifecycle marketing, customer segmentation, or growth modeling
• Existing Shakepay customer and/or product familiarity
• Interest and enthusiasm for the possibilities offered by Bitcoin and non-sovereign currency

The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 CAD. Base salary may vary depending on factors such as years of experience, skills and qualifications. Additionally, employees are eligible for equity, performance-based pay increases, benefits including health and dental, and paid time off.
