Role Summary
Do you have a driving license B and do you live in Spijkenisse or the surrounding area? And do you also have knowledge of and experience with (petro)chemical products? Then working as a Cargo Inspector might be something for you!
As a Cargo Inspector you inspect the liquid cargo of ships, tankers, land tanks and wagons. The cargo consists of a wide range of petro or chemical products and gases.
You take samples from the cargo which are analyzed by your colleagues in the laboratory. You also carry out cleanliness inspections and make various measurements and quantity calculations.
You have contact with various people within and outside our organization. You work together with the laboratory, the customer service department, coordinators and fellow Cargo Inspectors. You have contact with customers and the terminals.
You work in 5 shifts and you carry out the inspections at various locations in the Rotterdam area.
Requirements
- Have you already worked as a Cargo Inspector / surveyor in the (petro) chemical industry? Then come and use your expertise as a Cargo Inspector at SGS!
- Have you not worked as a Cargo Inspector?
- You don't learn the trade at school, at SGS we train you internally to become a junior, medior or senior Cargo Inspector.
- You have a good knowledge of the Dutch and English language. You can work with the computer and the Microsoft office package. You are in possession of VCA or are willing to obtain this certificate.
We would like to see the following knowledge and experience on your CV:
- We believe that a completed nautical MBO or HBO education (sea shipping or inland shipping) or work experience in logistics or industry is a good basis.
- Knowledge of and experience with (petro)chemical products,
- Enthusiastic, energetic, safe working and affinity with the port of Rotterdam is a requirement.
- Knowledge of inspection techniques, equipment and international inspection standards is a bonus!
- Carrying out a reference check and requesting and receiving a valid Certificate of Good Conduct can be part of the application procedure.
