Backend Engineer - Recommendation (all genders)

Role Summary

• Developed next-generation recommendations using NodeJS with TypeScript
• Efficient management of large amounts of data using Google BigQuery and seamless integration into business intelligence systems and our data platform
• Building and improving high-traffic APIs while ensuring minimal latency
• Work closely with experienced engineers, product managers, data scientists and analysts to improve existing functionality and introduce new features

Exploring new technologies and methods, particularly in the areas of machine learning and generative AI

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience building scalable APIs (e.g. with Node.js, Python or Go)
• Practical & current experience with a typed programming language (e.g. TypeScript)
• Solid know-how in dealing with SQL or NoSQL databases
• You write well-structured, efficient and maintainable code and actively pay attention to the quality of the code base
• You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• You are used to working in an English-speaking and agile environment
• You continually raise the quality standards of the software you work on
• You are curious to take on end-to-end responsibility for our recommendation engine

Nice to have

• Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch
• Experience building data models with dbt
• Experience working with an MPP data warehouse (e.g. Redshift, BigQuery)
• Experience with centralized logging, monitoring and alerting solutions (Datadog)
• Hands-on experience with a cloud ecosystem (e.g. AWS, GCP) as well as integration with orchestration services (such as Dagster or Airflow)
• Experience operating data processing pipelines using distributed data processing frameworks
• Practical experience with machine learning models or LLM-based systems is a plus
