Assistant Finishing Operator

Role Summary

As a Finishing Laborer, you will be responsible for the activities that take place in the finishing center. You may be assigned to tasks that include wrapping rolls cut to customer specifications, operating the manual packaging line, core cutting, strapping, rewinding, shipping and receiving. This position may be subject to rotation.

• The finishing worker plays an important role. As such, you will also be responsible for:
• sorting, labeling and packaging finished products for shipping, according to customer specifications, quality requirements and standard practices;
• inspection of the general appearance of the finished product;
• to keep the area stocked with packaging materials necessary for the work;
• preparing chucks for machine operators;
• communicate and coordinate the necessary information to the relevant shift/department personnel to ensure the efficiency of operations;
• track multiple orders packaged at the same time;
• to continually improve quality and productivity;
• maintain a clean and safe work area;
• carry out tasks and audits related to the 5S program;
• assist in equipment maintenance activities, as indicated;
• participate in group problem-solving team efforts and continuous improvement activities;
• to cut and rewind the rolls

to carry out any other assigned tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma required or equivalent.

• You must be able and willing to work overtime, even on short notice.
• You must demonstrate good command of computer applications.
• You must be able to obtain a forklift driver's license and be able to lift up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
